Increasing energy prices and threats of climate changes

EU project Better Building contributes to implementation of Kyoto protocol

Europe’s consumers and enterprises are angry at the energy suppliers with reference to the increasing prices. Many of them also fear the threats of climate changes as a result of more flooding in some regions or fires in others. Awareness in many European regions towards energy supply and consumption has started to change but is still far from being homogenous regarding requirements in this field.

Strategic stakeholders like the some departments of Ministry of National Education in Turkey or the University of Cankiri Karatekin, Technical and Business College and Turkish Labour Office support the European project Better Building to increase understanding of the ecological value of energy-saving constructions. The 7 partners from Austria, Italy, Norway, Romania, Slovenia and Turkey will elaborate innovative materials for the acquisition of additional competences in energy consulting for VET suppliers and employers in the building industries in Italy, Slovenia and Turkey.

The partnership is therefore devising country specific

·          Train the Trainer Qualification Curricula,

·          Didactic guidelines and recommendations on how to introduce these materials into existing frameworks and

·          An implementation concept to give advice on how to put these materials into learning practice in these countries.

The project started in November 2007 and will present the final results at a large conference in the [….] of 2009 in Italy. By the project’s end in November 2009, the Austrian, Norwegian and Romanian partners will have supported the partners of the three target countries in the elaboration phase and the Italian, Slovenian and Turkish partners will have tested and validated these materials in their countries with support of national strategic stakeholders.
